Highly driven, remarkably passionate. We’re not your average law firm. At Bennett and Bennett, you will find only the highest qualified attorneys and support staff who are fully committed to serving you.
Kelly has been practicing law since 1991, after graduating with her husband and law partner Greg, from Pepperdine University School of Law in Malibu, California. With over 27 years of trial and professional mediation experience, Kelly spends her time representing individuals in family law cases, and mediating divorce, real estate, business and employment disputes.
Kelly is a natural born leader, and it shows through her contributions to both the legal and local communities. She has served as a two-time president of the Southwest Riverside County Bar Association, is an appointed Judge Pro Tem for the Riverside County Superior Court serving on temporary assignments for the Family Law bench, and is President of the Southwest Inn of Court – an invitation-only group of judges and attorneys seeking to raise the professional and ethical standards in the legal community.
Kelly was also the first woman elected to the Murrieta City Council, where she served from 2006 to 2014 as Mayor, Vice Mayor, and co-chaired the international relations, higher education and healthcare subcommittees. Kelly’s leadership grew to a regional level, where she served as Chairwoman of the Western Riverside Council of Governments, among other corporate and non-profit boards. It’s not uncommon for Kelly to travel to Sacramento and Washington, D.C. representing court, community and regional interests and meeting with legislators to gain their support. Locally, Kelly is proud to have established the Southwest Valley Youth Court (serving Murrieta and Temecula at-risk youth), as well as the Produce for People community garden project, which provides hundreds of tons of fresh produce to area food banks to feed families in need. Other community service includes serving on the advisory board for S.A.F.E., a non-profit, domestic violence prevention agency for victims of abuse, and the Riverside Court’s “Veteran’s Court” (giving veteran’s a second chance after committing PTSD-related crimes).
Did we also mention Kelly’s speaking engagements? A popular speaker and teacher on marriage, conflict resolution and leadership, Kelly is routinely engaged to present at various organizations, government groups and churches. Her facilitation skills are also utilized by national organizations for goal setting sessions and other meetings where direction and productive problem solving are needed.
A native Californian, in her free time Kelly can be found surfing the waters of California and Hawaii with her husband, advancing her skateboarding skills, and hanging out with her daughters.
Greg has been fascinated with business for as long as he can remember. From his earliest days, Greg has been an entrepreneur (best lemonade stand ever!), restaurateur (yes, he cooks) and Nordstrom shoe salesman. He also got his real estate sales license at the ripe old age of 18 and worked in his dad’s real estate office during college.
Working at Nordstrom taught Greg the value of excellent customer service, a value he continues now in running his own business. Greg believes in providing the highest level of personal service to his clients.
He met his wife Kelly while in college studying abroad in Germany through Pepperdine University. Greg and Kelly got married the summer after graduating from college, then went on to law school together (also at Pepperdine) where they had almost all of the same classes. To make matters even more challenging, the Bennetts brilliantly had their first child (Rachael) during their third year of law school. Nearly 20 years later, Rachael graduated from Pepperdine law school herself and has joined the firm as an attorney.
Greg’s Pepperdine degrees in Business Management and Law have provided him with a top-notch business education. Since 1990 Greg has practiced law in the areas of business and real estate, with an emphasis on private business and commercial real estate transactions, litigation, and complex Family Law matters.
Having run his own private business since 1998, Greg is keenly aware the needs of private business owners and seeks effective and cost efficient resolutions to his clients legal needs. From forming business entities and writing contracts, to representing businesses in litigation, Greg is a one-stop shop for his client’s business law needs.
When he’s not working, Greg spends his time surfing (yes, at his advanced age), hanging with his wonderful wife and daughters, doing yoga, watching Game of Thrones and walking his 90 pound Akita, Lucy. Greg also enjoys long walks on the beach and sunsets, but don’t tell anyone.
Rachael joined the Bennett and Bennett team as an Associate Attorney in the fall of 2015, bringing a fresh perspective and enthusiasm to the firm. As the next generation of Bennett family attorneys, Rachael rounds out our powerhouse legal team. Since joining the firm’s family law practice, Rachael has hit the ground running. She’s handled just about every area of family law, including complex dissolution and high-asset property division cases, successful marital settlement negotiations, and high-conflict custody cases.
She earned her Juris Doctorate from Pepperdine School of Law, graduating at the top of her class. Rachael holds dual Bachelor Degrees in Political Science and International Studies from Pepperdine University, and a Certificate in Business and Entrepreneurship from Pepperdine School of Law. During law school, she was an editor for the Pepperdine Law Review, served in two judicial externships at the Riverside County Superior Court and externed for the U.S. Attorney’s Office, prosecuting cases of “home grown” terrorism and complex extradition matters. Rachael’s undergraduate studies involved rigorous training in multiple foreign languages; a Congressional internship at the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C.; and a year abroad in Heidelberg, Germany, studying the various European political systems.
You’ll find this mover and shaker out and about, representing Bennett and Bennett at community, volunteer, and leadership events. As a voracious reader, Rachael’s “happy place” is pretty simple: A comfy chair with a good book and a glass of red wine.
Areas of Practice
People who are going through the hardest times in their lives deserve the very best lawyers to come along side and see them through. This is why we practice family law.
We believe that business systems and solutions should be streamlined, so you can focus on doing the work you love. If you want sophisticated yet practical solutions from your own team of “specialists”, then we’re the lawyers for you.
Does real estate have to be complex? We don’t think so – at least not when you’ve got experienced counsel behind you. When you’re ready for strategic, effective lawyering for your transactions, investments, development or ownership issues, we’re ready for the hand-off.
