Areas of Practice
In the world of Estate Planning, there are three documents that reign supreme; Trusts, Wills, and Powers of Attorney. Our approach is educational and proactive – we first determine each client’s individual goals and then tailor their plan to best fulfill their values.
From day-to-day counsel to the most complex transactions, we keep our clients’ business objectives at the center of our approach. We advise clients in a complete range of corporate & other related business transactions, including start-ups vis-à-vis estate-planning, unbundling techniques, asset protection, forming strategic alliances, mergers and acquisitions, & more.
Advanced Estate Planning
While a basic Estate Plan will benefit anyone, some clients with larger or more complex estates can benefit from Advanced Estate Planning techniques in order to manage their current assets & minimize estate taxation on death. These include Irrevocable Trusts; BDIT’s; gifting programs; & more.
We excel in the creation of specially tailored Intellectual Property Compilations, or Business Instruction Manuals, that will improve your organization’s profitability & efficiency. We have helped hundreds of clients realize tangible improvements in their organizations when it comes to their value; processes & procedures; as well as their bottom line.
With a combined fifty years of experience we are able to solve all of your long-term care concerns by using numerous qualification techniques for Medi-Cal, VA Aid and Attendance, and a host of other Federal, State and County programs that are lesser known to the general public.
Professional Fiduciary Services
Professional Fiduciaries manage their client’s personal affairs, including daily care, housing & medical needs, & finances. This ranges from paying bills to handling investment & trusts. Often times, they are hired as a neutral third party where family is either unable or unwilling to manage the estate, or where the estate is complex & a professional is needed.
After death & absent the presence of a Trust, an estate must go before the Probate court. There, the court assigns an administrator to inventory the decedent’s assets & pay any outstanding debts. The administrator will then distribute the remaining assets according to CA probate law of intestate succession.
Many people elect to establish a Trust as a part of their Estate Plan thereby avoiding a probate of their estates upon death & distributing their assets as they see fit. While this avenue is generally easier for those administering the estate, advice & guidance from an attorney will ensure the administration is done correctly & nothing is missed or neglected.
